The theory used by Kant emphasized the necessity of every individual’s cognitive sense to help determine the phenomena around them. This meant that human beings were only capable of judging and employing a certain phenomena with the help of their senses. If the senses failed to function then it would be entirely difficult for the body and mind to accept what was presented to it. This significance of the self not only created the individuality of each person but also determined their experiences in the world. While the senses limit our connection with the world, the empirical knowledge is considered a valid source as is the cognition which allows for nature and the sciences to coexist with one another. This was the same opinion that was held by Newton who felt every activity in the world to be determined by the presence of scientific laws. These laws helped determine the various phenomena that occurred in the world and allowed human beings to understand the world around them.

In the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant says “What we have meant to say is that all our intuition is nothing but the representation of appearance; that the things which we intuit are not in themselves what we intuit them as being”(1787). Thus, as presented by Newton’s theory, the significance of scientific modules is an essential in trying to define the state of the world and every individual’s opinion of it. This quotation is in direct relation to the theory of Newton which emphasizes the importance of space and time in the creation of appearances.
