The three doctors I met worked in close coordination with each other as the patients of oncology required hematological treatment often. Dr. Yunhee Chung is an experienced doctor of Medical Oncology. He graduated from Yonsei University College of Medicine, Korea in 1978 and spent a few years in residency atBrooklynMedicalCenter.
Finally, Dr. Chung acquired fellowship from Coney Island & Downstate Medical Center. Dr. Pauline Lau works under Dr. Chung and completed her schooling from SUNY HSC atSyracusein 1994. She did her residency at NSUH at Manhasset and was awarded fellowship from Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Kee Shum is a senior hematologist who is a graduate of 1981 from Cornell University Medical College. He did his residency from Kings County Hospital land acquired fellowship from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
I observed that The New York Hospital Queens has culturally diverse workforce as well as patients. All departments of therapeutic medicines including Oncology and Hematology have patients visiting from various socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. As I spent most of the time and was particularly interested in Medical Oncology and Hematology, I realized that the majority of the patients coming for treatment were Asians and were aged roughly between 40 and 55. This is, perhaps, because Queens now resides a good number of people from South Asia, East Asia, and the Far East. Some of them seemed to be from well-to-do families while some did not. Nonetheless, it would not be right to generalize that most of the patients visiting the New York Hospital Queens are middle-aged and Asians. It could possibly be a coincidence on Saturday, October 6, that those who turned up for treatment were primarily from Asia.
